University City Homes & Real Estate

University City is a city about 10 miles northwest of St. Louis. In 1902, large portions of the area were purchased by magazine mogul Edward Gardner Lewis. He moved his publishing company to the area and began construction of surrounding buildings to create a new community. Over time, the community began to grow as people moved to the area. There are many things to see and do in University City.  Centennial Commons is a recreation center with activities for people of all ages. There are many classes, programs and events in which to participate. Folks can use the workout equipment, play sports and much more. In the summer time, kids and adults can enjoy the Heman Park Swimming Pool. The Ruth Park Golf Course, which opened in 1931, is an excellent course to play golf.  There is a practice area, pro shop, club rental and snack bar.  University City is an excellent place for shopping as there are over 130 shops is the historic Loop district.

University City has events in town throughout the course of the year. One of the most popular events is the Loop Ice Carnival. Held annually in January, the Ice Carnival has entertainment, fun and activities for people of all ages. Festivities include human dog sled races, a temporary tattoo scavenger hunt, putt putt pub crawl, food, ice sculptures and so much more.  

University City Schools

There are four elementary schools in University City and they are Jackson Park, Pershing, Flynn Park and Barbara C. Jordan. The name of the junior high is Brittany Woods Middle School and the high school is University City High School. The community recently voted for a bond increase to improve classrooms, equipment and school facilities.
