Attractions in the Washington area include parks, historic buildings and wineries. The James W. Rennick Park is on the riverfront, and visitors can picnic and go boating here.  There are walking trails at Bernie E. History of Washington

Relatives of Daniel Boone were some of the early settlers in the Washington area at the beginning of the 19th century. German families began moving to the area in 1833. The city was established in 1839.

Washington Schools

Washington's public schools are part of the School District of Washington. The district has eight elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. This district also serves the nearby town of Marthasville. Private schools in Washington include the Washington Montessori School, Immanuel Lutheran School and St. Francis Borgia Regional High School.
